Yeah, but average life span of appliances is up to 12 or 14 years for most kitchen appliances and washing/drying machine. So for many people, like me, who treat their appliances good, are using 16 year old stuff that was out before anybody had heard of energy star. So that message is to people with older appliances telling them maybe they should update
