How about no GMO's anywhere. I can't wait to taste that cloned Betsy burger.

I don't care if you die from lack of insulin. It doesn't bother me at all. Secondly, I don't care about a kidney or heart transplant. Seriously, you're just another internet troll. Just go die already.

I believe the research HAS to exist. The public should be protected, life forms (no matter where they come from) cannot be patented, and the FDA needs to make and enforce regulations to protect the public.
There is nothing wrong with the science. The corruption is in the government and corporations are to blame too (ethically), but they are just doing what they r legally allowed to do.
Suing a university stops 1 incident, but allows for it to happen again and again. U fought the wrong person.

My point about saying why hawaii because that is all you care about. People like you allow millions of civilians to be killed in Iraq because you don't live there. Millions in south africa and india die of hunger because you don't live there. Your food and money is more important to you than human life.
With your pov nothing will be changed because hawaii is a miniscule % of the population, and since no one lives there no one will care.

Self sustain means no tourism. You're economy would be dead. How specifically is your harvest affected? C. is a legal political issue. Your fight should be directed at legislation not corporations or science.
Imperialist? Hardly.
If you outlaw genetic modification you won't be able to get a kidney or heart transplant in hawaii. You would have people dying from Strep Throat because antibiotics would be illegal. If you stop science you will never advance medication beyond what it is already.

A. I live in Hawaii. B. Monsanto's crops are grown out in the fields by my house and their pollen pollutes my organic food. C. Their patents allow them to sue someone like me if their DNA is found in my plants. D. Hawaii needs to be self-sustaining and Monsanto is not. If you have to buy seeds every year, it is not sustainable. E. You have your bias about insulin, and you do not realize that this affects more than one island's harvest. Keep your imperialism out of Hawaii.

Yes, why ban in Hawaii? Why is it ok to do in Nebraska. BTW greenhouses can be put ANYWHERE (even space).
I'm not speaking down to activists. I am an activist with certain issues to (i'm very progressive), but uninformed and irrational activists are dangerous. More dangerous than GMOs in Hawaii.
You could have stopped insulin and caused 100s of millions of people to die, where the only risk would be 1 island's harvest.
I meant ignorance as the absence of specific knowledge on the issue.
WhiteRosepunk (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Why ban experiments in Hawaii? Seriously? And you claim to be a scientist? How would you have experimental corn grown inside? Is there where it is grown in Nebraska? Inside? I may be an ignorant activist, and I may be dangerous, but nowhere near as dangerous as having GMOS in Hawaii. But, I'm not going to convince you otherwise, and you won't be able to convince me.

Certainly being poor contributes but so does the availability of food. What makes food expensive? The availability. Supply and Demand.
Why ban experiments? Why not remove them from the eco system and have them isolated indoors? I could support that.
Why is it terrible for hawaii and not for other places? What makes you better than any other person on this planet?
You're arguments don't hold any water. You appear to be an ignorant activist, which is a very dangerous thing to be.
WhiteRosepunk (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
No, it has not reduced people starving. People starve because they are poor, not because there isn't enough food. Secondly, experiments in Hawaii is a terrible idea and I'm working on getting GMO's banned on Maui, along with GMO testing. Go test on yourself. |
