A number of credit card companies now issue credit cards with embedded RFIDs (radio frequency ID tags), with promises of enhanced security and speedy transactions. But on today's episode of Boing Boing tv, hacker and inventor Pablos Holman shows Xeni how you can use about $8 worth of gear bought on eBay to read personal data from those credit cards -- cardholder name, credit card number, and whatever else your bank embeds in this manner. Fears over data leaks from RFID-enabled cards aren't new, and some argue they're overblown -- but this demo shows just how cheap and easy the "sniffing" can be. This episode is part of our ongoing series of interviews with some of the thinkers, hackers, and tinkerers at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology conference this year. you must be kidding. Hackers are either known openly or securely. hackers like pablo work openly because it is his profession and businesses, companies pay them very large sum of money to work for them. hacking is even a degree in colleges, even though it's a different type of hacking than what you think it is.hidden hackers that hide from the public of what they do steal private info to get money under the table. lets say they work as a waiter. cont.

they work as a waiter. you give them your card to pay. while you sit at the table they take your card, swipe in on a hidden reader.. iono attached under their pants leg *velcro* and then swipe it on the register. they hand you back your card. at the end of their shift they transfer the info on the reader and decode it on the computer. tada they have your credit card >.>
