Japanese comedienne Nahomi Matsushima of Othello interviews Johnny Depp in 2005 to promote Charlie & the Chocolate Factory for the Japanese tv show Sittoko... take 1! I love these interviews so much that since no one else had done so, I decided to add subtitles to them based on a wonderful translation from a good friend. I didn't subtitle absolutely everything, and I took some liberties with the dialog to make the English transactions interlock better. Still there are some timing and linguistic mistakes that are solely my fault, but otherwise for my part I blame Windows Movie Maker for everything. NOTES Part 1: And here we are the first and last of my Nahomi/Depp subtitle videos. I have to thank my cherished friend for the translations, for which I can never repay enough. I was going to add an epic (or ridiculous) music intro, but my idea was way too bizarre so I left it alone... trust me it was out there. Now again, you might notice a big splice near the beginning, that's because the best quality video I found didn't have the beginning. But the beginning I did find was filmed directly with a camera pointed at a TV (not sure why this was done, but this is my edit now). Also, there's no ending. Nahomi begins to talk about the interview then it's cut off. As I said, if I had it my way I'd make full versions of all 5 of these in HD with better editing software, but I'm just the messenger. Still, I hope ya'll enjoy! This has been very trying work, but I loved it.

Not to patronize but that's the point of her speaking in English to him, because she feels that she isn't really talking to him if it goes through the translator. I'm sorry if my subtitles didn't relay this information, or if they went too fast. I really want to redo these 5 videos some day in much higher quality with better editing software.

There is a translator behind Nahomi (Miss Toda) who translates for Johnny. You can see in this video that Nahomi-Chan & Toda-San have a discussion about what she is actually saying so that she translates properly. What is edited out for TV is Miss Toda translating to Johnny so that the interview doesn't move too slowly for viewers.
